Children who have the following:
- Developmental delay or risk factors eg premature birth
- High or low muscle tone impacting on development
- Sensory motor dysfunction eg vestibular hypofunction, sensory processing disorders
- Balance and coordination difficulties eg developmental coordination deficit
- Postural control and balance issues related to hearing and/or visual impairment
- Babies with plagiocephaly, brachycephaly and torticollis
- Cerebral Palsy
- Down Syndrome
- Acquired brain injury, Spinal cord injury, and children requiring rehabilitation post trauma, surgery on oncology treatment
- Medical diagnoses impacting on gross motor development eg mitochondrial and neurological disorders, as well as other genetic and chromosomal diagnoses.
- Hypermobility causing pain and/or functional loss
- Concerning lower limb postures or unusual walking or running styles eg toe walking, flat feet, bowed legs, knock-knees, in-toeing

Children who may benefit from being assessed include those:
- Babies and toddlers struggling to meet developmental milestones eg not tolerating tummy time, not rolling by 6 months, not sitting by 9 months, not attempting to stand by 12 months, not walking by 18 months
- Babies who appear ‘floppy’ or ‘stiff’
- Children who are tripping and falling often (may be described as clumsy or uncoordinated)
- Children with a concerning strong preference to use one side of their body more than the other.
- Children having difficulty keeping still and maintaining their posture and balance (impacting on their fine motor skills, visuomotor skills, reading/writing and concentration)
- Children not keeping up with peers in terms of their gross motor skills eg catching and kicking a ball, climbing, running, jumping, hopping, skipping
